A licence to print money
The history of the Hungarian company Pénzjegynyomda Zrt goes back more than 80 years. It started in 1921, when the Hungarian government began to negotiate with the Swiss Orell-Füssli company to establish a factory for the production of the new Hungarian currency, the pengo. In 1925 the Hungarian National Bank acquired all its shares from the Swiss banknote printing company and began to operate Pénzjegynyomda plc.
